How do I create a free Imagekind account?
You can start by going to the top of any Imagekind page and clicking on the Sign In link. Click the "Get Started Now" button and enter your email address, choose a password and a screen name. Your screen name is your public alias, which is how you will be identified when you use any of the community features of Imagekind, such as posting comments or participating in forum discussions. Once you have entered in all the information, select the next button and you will be taken to your Member Account area. All personal information entered will be kept private on our server.s Please see our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use for more information.

How do I update my Account information?
You can update your registration information by signing in and going to my admin. Select the Account tab. From here you can update your name and email address and your commission payment information and then click on the Save button at the bottom of the page.

What are my commission payment options?
You may choose to be paid either by check or by Paypal. To choose your payment method go to the "Account" page in the member admin: https://www.imagekind.com/member/account.aspx For the check, please provide the name the check is to be written to. For Paypal, please provide the email address you use to sign in to your Paypal account.
Payments are issued around the 15th of the month. Paypal payments are generally received within a day. Please allow a few days for a check to arrive, depending on mailing address.

What if I forgot my password?
If you forget your password you can have it sent to your registered email address. Simply click on the Sign In at the top of any Imagekind page, enter in your email address and click on the Forgot Your Password? link. We will send your password to the registered email address on your account.

How Do I Change My Password?
It's a good idea to periodically change your Imagekind password. To do so, simply go to this page, enter your new password, and hit save at the bottom.

How do I sign into my Imagekind account?
If you have already registered, click on the Sign In link at top right of any Imagekind page. Type in your email address and password, then click on the Sign In button to access your account.

How do I edit the information in my public profile?
Log in to your Imagekind account, and choose "My Account" on the top right. Choose "Profile." You can then add a little bit about yourself, upload your avatar (picture of yourself), and also put a link to your website. Limited HTML is allowed in your profile.

What information should I add to my profile?
Your profile is the first place that your customers and artist friends will look at. You want it to have a few pieces of interesting information about yourself, and appear professional. We recommend you ask the artists in our member forum for suggestions on what to add.

How do I make my Avatar look good?
The avatar is an 86 x 86 pixel format image. Our suggestion is to first scale and crop the image you prefer to use as your avatar on your home computer before you upload it. It will then be displayed exactly as you have edited it. Uploading anything other than an 86 x 86 pixel image will cause the page to squeeze or stretch your uploaded image to fit that 86 x 86 space.

Is my personal information secure?
Yes. We will not sell or distribute any of your personal information that is submitted on our site. This includes your email address, postal address, credit card information, phone number, and any other personal data. Please see our Privacy Policy for more information.

Can I watermark my images?
Yes you can. We give you the choice. We have a feature in your gallery administration and on our upload client which will allow you to watermark the shopper's large preview. This will brand the center of your image with a transparent Imagekind logo. The watermark is only on the preview and will not be on the printed image. Watermarks are not a fool-proof deterrent against image piracy (there are none*) and many (including us) would claim that branding takes away from the beauty of the image and interfere with someone's impulse to purchase.
*The most common deterrent against image piracy is to limit the maximum size of previews. Imagekind limits the maximum preview to 650 pixels in either dimension. At this size, an image printed on a typical office laser printer, at 300 dpi resolution, will render an image not much bigger than 2 inches in either dimension.

Why aren't most Imagekind artists' images watermarked?
One of the misconceptions about watermarks is that watermarks prevent image piracy. If someone (any teenager with some spare time and reasonable Photoshop skills) wishes to misappropriate an image there are many ways to subvert a watermark, beginning with simply cropping it out. Also, anyone with the same skills knows that even if right-click is disabled, they simply need to take a screen shot to capture the image and crop out the rest.
We never display images which can reasonably be printed. All of our web previews are limited to a maximum dimension of 650 pixels - hardly print worthy - at 300 dpi this would render a print of a little over 2" x 2". Likely you know that you can log into one of the most valuable image collections in the world - Corbis - and view non-watermarked images once you open your free account. The images, like ours, are low-res. However, anyone who has advanced understanding of image manipulation could use a tool like Genuine Fractals to interpolate the image UP in size and print a larger image. It is never as good as the original file but if you are stealing you probably don't mind letting Genuine Fractals do it's job as you aren't paying for quality anyway. The same can be said for Getty...the largest stock photo house in the world. These too can be viewed without watermarks.
The issue, like most things in life, is a trade off. Either artists give buyers a decent view of the object which we are asking them to purchase and risk a small percentage of people who know how to manipulate it upwards OR we can watermark all images in all cases and ask buyers to look through the watermarks to make their purchase decision.
Because of the above, not every photographer will sell images through Corbis and Getty in spite of their obvious size and distribution abilities. A great deal more professionals, however, try very hard to get this distribution and many are not selected. There is no easy answer, but Getty and Corbis' situation is exactly the same situation in which we find ourselves. We have decided to provide a high quality buying experience as if most buyers are honest and legitimate shoppers. We believe it is the best way to run a business of this kind. Yet, as we went into the business we knew that 1 in 50 artists would not agree with that perspective and as a result, we offer watermarking as an option for artists who wish to protect their images regardless of size or resolution.
It's the challenge we face living in a world of gray vs. black and white! Believe it or not, we received email from an artist who said he would NEVER sell on Imagekind because we do not allow large enough previews to "show the full beauty of the work."

Use your good judgment when uploading content. Please don't upload inappropriate content, such as things that are obscene, violent, harmful, offensive, discriminatory, illegal etc. We reserve the right to determine the appropriateness of anything posted and to remove without notice any items that fail to comply with our policies. For a full description of acceptable content, please see our Terms of Use.
Respect the Intellectual Property rights of others. This means you should only upload content you own or have the legal right to use. Please don't steal other people's work and pass it off as your own, this includes stuff you find on the Internet.
Be considerate and respectful when interacting with other Members. Art is a subjective topic and there are many different types of art out there, so please be polite when posting comments. Don't abuse, harass, disparage, or intimidate other members. If you have a problem or complaint please report it to the Imagekind team.

How do I close my Imagekind seller account?
To close an account we need to verify the member's identity. We ask that you send the request in writing to care@imagekind.com. and please include following information, as shown in your account.
- Your full name
- Screen name
- Imagekind URL
- Login email address
- Payment method: Check or Paypal
a) Paypal email
OR
b) Check payment name and mailing address.
If account details have not been entered in the account admin, we may opt to close the account upon request with no further verification.
All requests in writing will be responded to and if you do not receive a response within 7 days from your initial request, please contact us again. Once the account is closed, please allow 15-30 days for images to be removed from Imagekind.com. Imagekind is not responsible for images showing up on 3rd party search engines.
If you have chosen to participate in the Feeds Program (see next question)

What if I'm participating in the Feeds Program and want to close my account?
If you have chosen to participate in the Feeds Program please notify partners@imagekind.com separately of your account closure.
For identity verification please include the following information, as shown in your account,
- Your full name
- Screen name
- Imagekind URL
- Login email address
- Payment method: Check or Paypal
a) Paypal email
OR
b) Check payment name and mailing address.
Please allow up to 60 days for images to be removed from marketplaces. If you do not receive a response within 7 days from your initial request, please contact us again.

What if I am owed outstanding earnings and I wish to close my account?
If you have outstanding commissions to be paid out, commissions are paid out the following month from the date the account is closed during our regular schedule approximately on the 15th or the closest business day.
