Current Gallery: fractalart ( piece)
Fractal art is created indirectly with the assistance of a computer by calculating fractal objects ( "a rough or fragmented geometric shape that can be split into parts, each of which is (at least approximately) a reduced-size copy of the whole,") and representing the calculation results as the still images you see here. The raw materails for my works were random iterated fractal sequences, which I manipulated and worked (much like a sculptor carving a form out of wood) to create the final image. Stylistically, these works range from pure abstraction to expressionism and surrealism.
