Current Gallery: aquatower ( piece)
Aqua Tower is a multi-use high rise building located in the Lakeshore East neighborhood of downtown Chicago. Completed in 2010, this 82 story skyscraper is the first downtown building to incorporate hotel space, rental apartments and condominium residences all in one building. At a total area of 1.9 million square feet and a height of 859 feet, it is the world’s tallest building with a woman as the lead architect. Jeanne Gang of Studio Gang Architects designed the building with cantilevered concrete slab balconies that roll and undulate across the facades to provide the tower with a natural, sculptural quality. These balconies also serve to enhance views of the surrounding city and optimize solar shading for the interior spaces. The ground level plinth structure is topped by one of Chicago’s largest green roofs that includes amenities such as a park, pool, hot tub, fire pits, gazebos and a running track. The building has won many design awards and is LEED certified.
All prints have a black border around the image. This border contains an image catalog number, a description of the image and the Paul Hasara copyright. The print has a white margin at all four sides as shown in the preview.
