The technique that I use is a combination of Radiography and Photography. This technique allows you to see the inside dimensions of the subject, just as if you cut the Shell in half and were able to look inside. I started experimenting with Radiographic Photography in 1972 as an X-Ray Technologist in the U.S. Navy. I have collected numerous shells, starfish and ocean life from around the world.
