Artist Statement About my art
All of my work starts out photographic. I use techniques such as exposure blending to even out the difference between the bright sky and the landscape and digital matte painting to mix entirely different scenes together. Along with that I use a digital brush to mix colors and light. These skills are just tools I use to put my heart into creating my art. In the end I want something vibrant and inspiring and my ultimate aim is to bring joy to the viewer through my work.
With a full time job in the Air Force, a wife, and 4 boys, I don’t have a lot of time to create. I mix my family life with my passion for creating art by taking family outings to the beach. I collect allot of pictures of the sky, seashore, waves, and anything that peaks my interest. These photos are just raw material I will use later in my creative process. I look through my photo bank from time to time and parts of one photo and another and then another will start to inspire a mental landscape that I will feel compelled to create into something I can hold onto and share with others. I normally start out on a particular work and have it finished days later, or somewhere along the process I might set it aside for weeks or months at a time till I get new inspiration and it ends up something completely different then when I started.
